All things Muslim - incredible stories & positive vibes

A Few Frequently Asked Questions About Ummahsonic…

Any website worth the server it’s hosted on usually comes stocked with a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. For companies that sell a product, the FAQ page absolves them of the responsibility to provide effective customer service, as an aggrieved consumer will simply be told to ‘refer to the FAQ page’ when, for example, their internet cuts out, the boiler explodes or their train is delayed for three and a half hours due to leaves on the line. Genius.

For an operation like Ummahsonic, the FAQ page gives our readers the chance to learn a little bit more about the website without having to slide in our DMs or risk an argument with a random stranger by commenting on our Facebook posts (though of course, we love encouraging discussion). As we’ve noticed similar questions popping up on our social media pages over the past few months, we figured we’d finally get our answers together in one place.

So here it is. The Ummahsonic FAQ page, featuring answers to the questions you frequently ask Ummahsonic.

Who Runs This Page?

Rupert Murdoch. Kidding! Ummahsonic is the brainchild of the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO). The FMO is a charity that originally launched in 1983 to support Muslims in the Leicestershire area. Thanks to the sterling efforts of the FMO team, it now runs a range of nationwide projects that bring people together so they can be a positive force and voice for the Muslim community. It receives campaigning support from the UK government in recognition of this important work and that’s what funds our Ummahsonic team.

At the start, Ummahsonic was a podcast – hence the ‘sonic’. We’ve since grown to produce a broad array of content – both sonic and visual – but at this stage in the game we feel the name has stuck.

Why do You Have Music in Your Videos?

We try to be flexible with our content as all of our readers practise their faith in different ways. While some of our followers believe music is haram, we know that others do not, and we feel the best way to engage with as many people as possible is to caption all of our videos so they can still be enjoyed with the sound off (and how many people view our videos) with the option to switch on music.

Why is Some of Your Content ‘Not Muslim’?

As anyone who reads Ummahsonic will know, we are always looking to champion all things Islam, whether it’s a high-flying Muslim, a sterling act of faith or kindness, or an important moment in our history.

However, we also love to shout about awesome stuff that can sometimes seem like it only has a fleeting link to our religion. Why? Well, as long as it’s emitting positive vibes, we want to tell you about it.

How do I get my Stuff Featured on Ummahsonic?

If you’re a talented artist or poet or photographer or creative or whatever; or you’re involved with a project or movement that’s making the world a better place, then please tell us about the greatness that emanates from your very being.

Slide into those DMs on our Facebook page and make the case for your creations or passion. If we like it, we’ll do our very best to feature it on the site.

Why are you so Awesome?

Believe it or not, someone did once ask us this on our Facebook page. While it’s not really a frequent question and may have in fact been spam for some sort of ‘wellness’ pyramid scheme, we like to think about it whenever we’re feeling a bit blue.

So thanks, mystery inquisitor.
