This Guy’s Running a Phone Repair Shop from a Phone Box. What a Hero

Did someone once say, ‘if you can make it in London, you can make it anywhere’? Or was that about New York?

Whatevs, we’re going to potentially misappropriate a possibly made-up famous quote for the sake of a punchy intro to a story about one man and his unusual business venture.

A Reddit user recently posted a pic of a guy working away on a broken mobile phone while inside a London phone box:

According to various users commenting on the thread – as well as a member of the Ummahsonic team based in SE10 – this handyman does, in fact, ply his trade in an iconic red phone box outside a pub in Greenwich, south London.

You’ve really got to celebrate this hero’s can-do attitude. Phone repair shops like this are often associated with a certain-brand of immigrant hustle, and it’s inspiring to see someone channel this spirit in such an abnormal space – no matter where he’s from.

Like so many before him, this guy’s carving out a place in London where lesser men might have assumed there were no more places left. You’ve got to respect the grind.

We cannot confirm what the lease on a phone box is, mind.
