Manchester United midfielder and current world’s most expensive footballer, Paul Pogba, has always been open about his faith on social media. Over the past year, he’s posted pics on Instagram of himself making Du’a before matches, going to mosque, and donating money to charity for Ramadan.
So while the 24-year-old Frenchman hasn’t always lived up to his £89 million price tag – a feat that would probably require him to score 90 goals, cure cancer and bring about world peace before the January transfer window – we still love him for how he carries himself off the pitch.
This past weekend, Pogba marked the start of Ramadan by travelling to Saudi Arabia to visit the holy city of Mecca to perform Umrah.
He started by uploading a video…
Before posting a pic of himself facing The Kaaba, with the caption ‘Most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life’:
The snaps show Pogba wearing an Ihram, a simple garment fashioned out of two unstitched sheets. The Ihram demonstrates how we are all equal before God, whether poor, well-off or £15 million-annual-salary-out-of-this-world rich.
Ever the humble superstar, Pogba even filmed a fan hitting the dab. Not a great dab, but it’s the thought that counts:
Pogba’s willingness to share these beautiful expressions of his faith on Instagram means millions and millions of people can see what Islam is truly about. Because of this, he’ll always be one of our favourite footballers.
